Hello all...I am wondering if painful skin is a TMS symptom and if anyone else experiences it and if they have overcome it...

I have had painful skin on and off since May. What I mean is that my skin feels sunburned, whisker rubbed, carpet burned, stingy, punchy, almost like I have a heated seat on...in fact, sometimes it hurts to sit and lie down.

    Thanks for your response.

Hi - I can’t say for certain (and I know it’s recommended to see your doctor), but I had this years ago (my back felt like someone lit it on fire) and was convinced it was neurological. Long story short - once I let go of the fear and started living in spite of the pain it slowly disappeared. Hope that helps.

Thank you for your reply! I have been to so many drs and have had every test under the sun...how long did yours last and what did you do that you found really helpful to rid yourself of the pain?

Well that’s good news that you’ve ruled things out. I wish I had a magic answer but I basically followed Sarno's principles (repeatedly) and eventually I cared less and less about it and it faded away. I realized my nervous system was almost turned ‘on high’ and I think my body was trying to tell me to stop pressuring myself-but everyone has their own story:)

Did you have any other crazy symptoms?

I’ve had other symptoms since, but the was the only one at that time. I hope you find help with the books and resources here.

So you followed his 12 principles? Anything specific? Anything that you did daily? Journaling? Meditation?

i get this frequently. it's usually in patches on my skin, but there's no redness. however, the area is super sensitive like a burn. it usually lasts a day or two, then it's gone. I've heard it could be Fibro or something like it, but i know it's just my nervous system going whacky. I try not to worry about it because i know it will go away, but it sure is annoying.

OMG! These symptoms can negatively affect your health, especially the condition of your skin. You may have serious problems. I had a similar situation where my skin ached from the slightest touch. I was often tormented by pain at night, as well as redness and rash. I decided to immediately apply to a special skin treatment clinic since it was impossible to endure all the pain. After examination by a specialist, the doctor explained that I had a serious allergy to some products, as well as due to the terrible overwork and the wrong way of life, my body gave such a reaction. I have been undergoing treatment for several months, took a vacation, and began to eat right, I hope everything will be fine!
