Hi, my name is Nancy. I have been keeping up with all your posts here and by now
have figured out that this where I may be able to find support. I have been in awful
pain since 2006 in my feet and legs. I was orig diag with plantar problems. Then shin
splints, then after many many tests, 3mri's, cat scans, bone scans, spinal injections,
pt, needling, and many more treatments, nothing has changed. I have had a very challenging
life to say the least. I was always very active and never a sitter. Now I can hardly make it
through the grocery store. I have had a few great days after reading Dr Sarno's books but
am missing something. I do journal daily, talk to myself out loud when I find the approp
time, I am really trying. Desperate for help at this point. For the past four yrs it has been
mostly low back and r leg searing pain while standing or walking. I would love any advice
and really appreciate it, you're all such great people, Nancy

Hi Nancy! Great to see you join the community. I am still struggling with low back pain myself but reaching out to this community has been a great help. I was obsessed with TMS this summer which almost became worse than my back pain. I was trying to find the right posting, book, magic word, etc. that would help me heal. I can find myself sometimes still looking for a physical reason. We all have been conditioned for so long that I finally realized that it will take time to decondition. It seems like the more I rush to heal the pain only gets worse.

If you have not started the SEP on this site, that might be a good starting point. Look into some mindfulness threads on this site. That does truly help. I also like the book The Great Pain Deception and Mind Power of the 21st Century. I hope this helps. I know how hard it is especially when we are in pain. I am & always will be on this journey. Take care!

Thank You for responding. I am new to this site, found it a little late due to family distresses. I have read many books,
Dr Sarno's, all of them. I am religious about following the program. I am now reading the Great Pain Deception. I have
been through many trials and tribulations in my life but am a strong woman. I just need to be able to live and love once
    again. Thank You again, Nancy

Please try to help me, I am 99% sure of Dr Sarno's diag. I have heard so much from other Dr's.
They can't find anything except spinal stenosis, not enough for surgery tho. Another says arthritis,
not enough to cause the pain I have. Another says, the list goes on and on. I know I have been very
tense, anxious for many yrs now. I feel like my life is over. Nancy

    Nancy,
I'm so glad you have found this forum and are reaching out for support. It sounds like you have a lot of stress in your life in addition to severe TMS. It may be helpful for you to seek out a therapist to assist you during this difficult time. There is a list on this site and if none are in your area they can be accessed through Skype. A good therapist can be helpful even if they aren't aware of TMS. That was the case with the one I've been seeing and I still found a great deal of help and support there to augment my TMS techniques.

The reading you are doing is a good step. I also agree that the SEP on this site is an excellent place to start. It lays everything out in a very step by step way which keeps it from being too overwhelming. Taking things one day at a time is essential.

Wishing you the best as you start this journey.....

Thanks Ellen, thanks for your support as it gave me more encouragement this am. I am seeing a therapist and
have been for a while now, not sure if she's the right one for me right now. She believes in the mind body syndrome
but has never read material on it. I may need to make a change. I am going to try to keep it short but will post again
soon with my total TMS story of 8 long yrs. Just knowing I'm not alone helps with the fear factor. Thanks, Nancy

    Nancy,
I have had everything you listed. Restless leg, shin splints, low back pain plus more and more. As others said the 42 day Structured Education Program on this site is the best. It is listed on the front page down the left hand side.

I have thought I would like to see a therapists to help me deal with all the communication issues I have with my parents. But none are in this city. I did interview one who also believes in the mind body connection. But I decided she really didn't understand how the personality traits are such drivers of pain plus guilt and fear.

    Welcome

Hi Nancy, glad to see you found your way to the support forum. All the above suggestions are great. You are not alone, people do understand, and there is a way out. We all took many years to get this way, it doesn't always go away quickly. Give yourself a big hug for being so brave.

at this point in my life. I don't know where you live, I live now in TN. Let me know if you are interested in seeing a TMS
dr? Or perhaps we can just talk? Wishing you peace, Nancy

Hi, Nancy. The other ladies have given you the best advice... stick with the SEP program
and you will get rid of the back and leg pain. It happens overnight for some lucky people
but for most of us it takes its own time. Weeks, months. For Steve Ozanich it was years.

I'm 83 and had terrible back pain last year and asked a nurse friend in Hawaii about it.
She told me to read Dr. Sarno's Healing Back Pain. I believed about 90 percent that my pain
was from repressed emotions and most of it went away. But holding back that remaining
10 percent of doubt that the pain was TMS caused kept me from healing totally.
Once I believed 100 percent, the pain began to leave me and finally left.

Try to spend some quiet time thinking about the people in your life, past and present,
but especially going back to childhood. Most TMS specialists believe our pains began back then
and we've repressed them. Some are so painful to remember, we push them way back in our
unconscious mind. When we bring them out... and mainly forgive everyone and ourselves,
    we heal.

Also, try not to worry about or rush your healing. It may not be easy, but try to forget about
the pain. Distract your mind so you spend time with things or people you enjoy.

Keep looking at the TMSWiki forum posts for encouragement and suggestions.

And don't think you're never going to be pain free. You will be, and soon.
We here are either former pain sufferers or those working on being pain free
through the SEP or other TMS programs. We're here for you.

Also, I'm not an evangelist, but I believe in God and that if we ask his help in healing,
he will help. Steve Ozanich, Dr. Scot Brady, Herbie and other TMS advocates
all agree with this. Add God to your meditation and see how great you will feel.

    Hi Nancy,
I am in Australia, a bit of a swim from TN :) However, if you go to to the main Wiki page (there's a link on the top left of this page), look down the menu on the left for "Find a Practitioner," and check TN, you may find someone near you.

that he will help me. I am a very spiritual person and loving. I had a difficult life although I never
realized it. Will talk to you soon I hope, it is late here in TN.

I am a Christian. God always hears our prayers and I always have to remember that His will be done not mine. I hope today has been a better day for you. I am still struggling too and am right here with you.
