Is there a way to contact a TMS doctor through this platform?

    Hi all:

I am 23 an have a very unique situation which means the boundary between structural and TMS is completely blurred. I'm just looking for some confirmation. I am very quickly running out of funds (and hope) to pay for various consultations and I wondered whether there was any kind of help available here from TMS specialists?

    Thank you!

    Hi delamareisa,

Getting in touch with a TMS physician sounds like it would be very supportive for you. No physicians typically reach out through this platform. There is a pretty good list on the Wiki, where you can get contact info.

If you're not where a physician is located (even with the Covid, most seem to restrict their practice to their state), then you might reach out to Dr. Schechter in LA. He is doing interstate telemedicine during the pandemic, and is probably available, at least in the US. He told me he does most states.

Not sure what your other consultations have been, but even without a physician, a coach like me, or a TMS therapist might help you with the diagnosis. It has to be a self-diagnosis really, since this group of people are not physicians. What we help you with, and what you can also do on your own is build a clear list of what supports a TMS diagnosis, and what does not, and work with this. Questions like "Will there be harm if I treat this as TMS for a few months?" or "What convinces me that this is not TMS?" are very helpful. Even with a TMS physician's help, it ultimately comes down to you working through your doubts/questions, and building the certainty inside, so if the TMS physician piece does not work out, I want you to take courage. Using google to search for conditions/symptoms along with key terms like TMS or Sarno may be helpful in you finding others who have had success with your symptoms. This site is fairly searchable too up in the upper right hand bar, or through the Wiki.

Of course not all symptoms are TMS, so it is very good to get cleared by a physician. And, having a TMS physician give you a TMS diagnosis is very supportive in your mind-body approach.

    Andy
