The question today was what was the most disheartening thing that a doctor told me about my symptom?
I was diagnosed with gastroesophageal reflux disease 10 years ago (around the same time I started working in my first job). Every time I ate I would feel pain. After being scoped and finding out I had a lot of inflammation present, but no ulcers or cancer, I was prescribed Nexium. I was soon after also diagnosed with an overactive bladder. I was also prescribed medications for this. I also developed menstrual cycle issues and prescribed medication for this. I was barely into my 30's at this point. For all of the diagnoses I was told that I was going to have to stay on the medications indefinitely.
I was upset with the fact that I was told that there was no way to heal myself and that I was going to have stay on the medications prescribed forever. All of the medications I was given had long term side effects. I wanted badly to get off of them and also be "cured" of my medical conditions. I then tried many alternative treatments over the years which actually allowed me to get off of the medications and the GERD and overactive bladder actually improved. Of course, I have a new set of conditions that I am now dealing with in regards to my TMS. I can't believe how much money and time I spent on the treatments and diagnostic tests over the years.
In terms of how I have kept what the doctors said in my mind is that I began to believe there wasn't a cure for the medical issues that I have. I feel blessed to have found Dr. Sarno's book. I know feel hopeful that what I was told by my physicians over the years, which was to live with my medical conditions, is not true.

    This is so powerful aa3405

You are making the decision to believe in something that will
eventually recondition your thought patterns so you can finally heal.

When they gave up on you , life didn't and it came at you in the form of pain
but behind that pain is self crying out seeking love and affection -
letting you know its time for change
and you hear it loud and clear, you know its true-
to many folks its helping now.

Your mind will still play those tricks of doubt in any way it can but in the end
if you stay and keep the reconditioning phase you will recover
and smile at lifes beauty all over again.

You are already tasting the sweet fragrance of hope so
keep on keeping on and keep us posted-
    your doing super
    Thanks

    Eric,
Thank you so much for your message. I read your story and it looks like you have lived with pain for many years. I am happy to hear that you are doing well with your recovery. I really appreciate your message and I really feel supported on this website. I am definitely going to complete the structured program. I read one of Dr. Sarno's books and have ordered Pain Free by Mark Sopher. Someone else on the website had recommended it. Thanks again. AA

    That's awesome AA
Which Dr, Sarno book is it- that's big news here-
cause we know once you got the book down pat and you can recall his ideas, concepts and insights
all while your practicing meditation and reaction watch then you got the whole phase working and you heal.

So my advice- go back to the Sarno book after the SEP too ok as a devotional and read like 1 or two pages a day
or you could add it to your time management ok-
absorb it and let his truth recondition your thoughts to recovery.

You are doing great:) , it was awesome to see you on the show cause getting back to living is very important.
maybe you were called to be a Medical Dr- maybe you once had dreams of all kinds of goals
and the pain has set you back- now you know its about learning how to live all over and
actually take those steps to be happy again feeling complete and full.

You are a very Youthful being, let all your enthusiasm carry you to wholeness and never stop learning
You got it in the bag
    Thanks
